The economy for this state is based on coal, electricity and farming to name a few. The gross state product is estimated at $55.6 billion. The income tax rate ranges from 3.0% to 6.5% and a sales tax of 6%.
West Virginias largest city is Charleston with a population of 53,421. Charleston is followed by Huntington with 51,475 and then Parkersburg with 33,099.
West Virginia has a humid subtropical climate with temperatures in the winter ranging from 18-43 degrees and in the peak summer months ranging from 58-85 degrees. The state has some of the highest levels of precipitation in the nation with the city of Snowshoe averaging 200 days annually with snow or rain.
