Texas is located in the South Central area of the United States and is the 2nd largest state in the Nation by area. It is nicknamed the “Lonestar State.”

The state’s total population is around 23,904,380 which make it the 2nd most populated state in the nation. Its demographics are as follows; 48.9% Caucasian; 11.6% African American; 0.6% American Indian; 3.3% Asian American; 13% Mixed. The economy for this state is based mostly upon petroleum and employees roughly 2/3 of the population. Tennessee’s gross state product is estimated at $1.09 trillion, 2nd in the nation. The state and local tax burden is considered the lowest in the nation.

Houston and Dallas Texas have populations of over 500,000people Austin, Fort Worth and El Paso rank as among the top 25 cities in the United States.

Texas has a number of different climate zones throughout the state.  In the winter, the panhandle is colder then North Texas, while the Gulf Coast is very mild. The Eastern and Northern portion of Texas suffer from strong thunderstorms and it is also part of Tornado Alley. The state is also known to emit the most greenhouse gases in the country.
