The economy for this state is based upon tobacco, poultry, soybeans, paper products, machinery and tourism to name a few. South Carolina’s gross state product is estimated at $136 billion with a per capita income of $24,000 or 81% of the national average.
South Carolina’s largest city is Columbia with a population of 124,000. The next three largest are Charleston with 115,000; North Charleston with 91,000 and Rock Hill with 64,000.
South Carolina has a humid subtropical climate with temperatures ranging from the lowest of 55 degrees during the winter months to the highest at 92 degrees during the peak of summer. There is an annual concern for hurricanes, especially through the hurricane season which runs from August to early October.
