
Pennsylvania is located in the Northeastern/ Middle Atlantic area of the United States and is the 33rd largest state in the Nation by area. Pennsylvania has also been known as the Keystone state due to its relative center location within the original 13 colonies.
The state’s total population is around 12,432,792 which make it the 6th most populated state in the nation. Its demographics are as follows; 86.93% Caucasian; 11.20% African American; 0.45% American Indian; 2.46% Asian American; 0.09% Mixed. The economy for this state is based upon major industries such as Wal Mart, UPS and Giant Food calling the state home for their corporate offices. In total, Pennsylvania has 50 Fortune 500 companies located within the state. Pennsylvania’s gross state product is estimated at $510.31 billion with a per capita product of $34,610 making it 26th in the nation.
Pennsylvania utilizes a number of classes to describe the states municipalities much like the state of New York. The top three cities in the state by population are; Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Allentown.
Pennsylvania has a variety of climates with temperatures ranging from 18-39 degrees in the winter and 61-86 degrees in the summer. Western cities that reside near Lake Erie have been known to receive over 100 inches of snow per year.
