
North Carolina is located in the Southeastern area of the United States and is the 10th largest state in the United States by area. North Carolina is the home of Kitty Hawk where the Wright Brothers succeeded in the first heavier then air flight.
The state’s total population is around 9,061,032 which make it the 10th most populated state in the nation. Its demographics are as follows; 74.95 Caucasian; 22.29% African American; 1.65% American Indian; 2.06% Asian American; 012% Mixed. The economy for this state is based upon major industries such as poultry, tobacco and milk to name a few, but the state has lost a number of manufacturing industries due to outsourcing and overseas competition. The states personal income tax ranges from 6.0% to 8.25% with a sales tax of 4.25%.
The suburbs of Cary are sometimes referred to as a mini New Jersey and as a haven for West Coast “yuppies.” A high number of European companies have established headquarters along route I-40 which runs from Charlotte to Greensboro and Raleigh, causing that portion of highway to be dubbed the “American Audubon.”
