Las Vegas is also known as “The Entertainment Capital of the World” and it is the most populous city in the state of Nevada. In the summer months temperatures run from 78-104 degrees while in the winter they are from 37-57 degrees.
The city has a population of about 558,880 in a 131.3 square mile area. The demographics for Knoxville are; 69.86% Caucasian; 10.36% African American; 0.75% Native American; 4.78% Asian; 9.75% Mixed.
The economy for Las Vegas is driven primarily by tourism, gaming and national conventions; all of these than feed into the city’s massive retail and dining industries. The city also has some technology based companies located there in electronic gaming and telecommunications; some of these are; Bigelow Airspace; WorldDoc and Skywire Media.
The city has been experiencing a boom of tourism and growth as the city politics attempts to push through major rezoning to establish a strip where nightclubs can be placed closer together and a World Jewelry Center.
Las Vegas has a number of cultural events and locations within the city ranging from casinos such as Hara’s and the MGM on the famous Las Vegas Strip; the First Friday Celebration which is an arts show for local artists and musicians; there are also a number of theme park areas with rides and attractions. In recent years there has been a major push to make Las Vegas more family friendly.
