Lincoln is also known as “The Star City” and it is the capital of Nebraska as well as the second most populated city in the Nation. In the summer months temperatures run from 65-89 degrees while in the winter they are from 11-33 degrees.
The city has a population of about 187,452 in a 116.8 square mile area. The demographics for Lincoln are; 81.04% Caucasian; 13.48% African American; 0.19% Native American; 2.46% Asian; 1.21% Mixed.
The economy for Lincoln is driven primarily by the service industry and also features industries such as banking, information technology, insurance and rail and truck transport.
Lancaster and Seward counties make up the Lincoln Metropolitan Area with no discernable suburbs outside of city limits. Some of the most notable neighborhoods in Lincoln are; Arnold Heights which is located in Northwest Lincoln and began as base housing for the Lincoln Air Force Base; Belmont which lies just North of Cornhusker Highway and Bethany, located along Cotner Blvd.
Lincoln is best known for being the home of the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers, but there is also a number of live music venues, location for touring Broadway shows and a number of large movie theaters.
