Springfield is a city in Missouri that lies within Christian and Green Counties. It has an estimated population of 154,777 as of 2007. Springfield is the 3rd largest city of Missouri, and the county seat of Green County. It is also part of the Springfield Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Following the trend, Springfield's downtown area has been resurected and renovated. Many of the older buildings have been renewed and replaced with lofts, office space, music venues, restaurants and more. Many historical theaters have been restored to their former flory, including the Gillioz theater.
There are many public high schools in the city, as well as private and christian schools. Colleges and universeities in the area include Missouri State University, Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, Drury University, Evangel University, Webster University and Bryan College. America's Promise Alliance ranked the city as a "100 Best Community for Young People" in 2008.
Springfield is considered the city with the most varied weather in the nation, according to Forbes Magazine. Record weather temperatures range from -16 F in December to 113 F in July.
