The climate of Jackson is a humid subtropical area and has hot, humid summers and mild winters. The city has temperatures ranging from 35-55 degrees in the winter and 71-91 degrees in the summer.

Tourism plays another important role in the economy of Jackson. The city is famous for its musical heritage which includes gospel, blues and R&B. The city is also home to the USA International Ballet Company. The city hosts a number of events throughout the year such as; Celtic Fest Mississippi; Crossroads Film Festival; Jubilee Jam and the USA International Ballet Competition.
