Iowa is also known as “The Hawkeye State” and it is located in the Midwestern area of the United States.  In the summer months temperatures run from 62-86 degrees while in the winter they are from 6-30 degrees.

The state has a population of about 2,988,046 and is the 30th largest population in the US. The demographics for Iowa are; 95.79% Caucasian; 2.79% African American; 0.61% Native American; 1.67% Asian.

The economy is driven primarily by food processing, machinery and chemical products with a total gross output for the state at about $124 billion. The state’s personal income tax rate is about 0.36% to 8.98%% with sales tax at about 5%. Some of the largest companies operating in the state are Principal Financial, HNI, Vermeer Company.

A few of the largest cities located in Iowa are; Des Moines, Iowa City.

Adventureland is located just outside of Des Moines in Altoona and is an amusement park with a number of rides and events. The Iowa State Fair takes place within Des Moines every year while the city of Ames is home to Iowa State University. Iowa City is home to the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum and the Herbert Hoover national Historic Site.
