The economy is driven primarily by steel production, pharmaceuticals and medical devices with a total gross output for the state at about $214 billion. The state’s personal income tax rate is about 3.4% with sales tax at about 7%. Some of the largest companies operating in the state are Eli Lilly, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Bayer and Elkhart.
Some of the largest cities located in Indiana are; Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Evansville, South Bend and Gary.
Indiana’s long time history with auto racing continues every year when the city hosts the Indianapolis 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. NASCAR also holds the Allstate 400 and the Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix.
