
Hawaii is also known as "The Aloha State" and it is located on an archipelago in the Central Pacific Ocean. In the summer months temperatures run from 69-89 degrees while in the winter they are from 63-80 degrees.
The state has a population of about 1,283,388 in a 188.6 square mile area and is the 42nd largest population in the US. The demographics for Hawaii are; 41.26% Caucasian; 3.33% African American; 2.03% Native American; 22.10% Asian.
The economy is driven primarily by tourism, food processing and apparel with a total gross output for the state at about $47 billion. Hawaii’s main exports include; coffee, macadamia nuts, pineapple and sugarcane.
The largest city in Hawaii is Honolulu and it is also the capital due to the natural harbor, known today as Honolulu Harbor. The city is located along the Southeast Coast of Oahu. Some other popular towns located in the state are; Hilo, Kailua, Pearl City, Waipahu, Kahului and Lihue.
The Polynesian culture is followed by many of the residents in Hawaii with reenactments of ceremonies and traditions found throughout the islands. The Hilo Art Museum is founded in 2007 and features works by Picasso, Dali and Huc-Mazelet Luquiens. For the outdoor lovers there are a number of trails for hiking, rivers for kayaking and fantastic places for camping. Hawaii seems to have been made for those that enjoy being outside and those that enjoy the ocean.
