Hollywood, located in southeastern Broward County, Florida, is the tenth largest city in the state of Florida. In July 2007, it was reported to have a population of 142,473 people. The total area of Hollywood is 30.8 square miles. North of Hollywood is Ft. Lauderdale and Dania Beach. To the south is Pembroke Park and Hallandale Beach. West of Hollywood is Pembroke Pines. For recreation, residents and tourists of Hollywood can visit the city’s beautiful beaches. In regards to education, Hollywood contains several public schools which are all managed by the Broward County Public Schools’ system. There are three public high schools in Hollywood: Hollywood Hills High School, McArthur High School, and South Broward High School. Several celebrities have been raised and currently live in Hollywood, Florida. Janice Dickinson, known for being the world’s first “supermodel” and Joseph Trohman, the lead guitarist of Fall Out Boy, are notable residents of this city. There are approximately 48 neighborhoods and communities that are recognized by the city of Hollywood. These include Beverly Hills, Lakes of Emerald Hills, Oakwood Hills, and Park Side.
