Fremont, a city in California, is located in the southeast area of the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2008, Fremont was estimated to have a population of 213,512 people. The city is composed of 92 square miles.The educational system in Fremont is managed by the Fremont Unified School District and the Ohlone Community College District. The Fremont Unified School District oversees five comprehensive high schools, a continuation high school, two independent study programs, an adult school, and five junior high schools. Ohlone College and one of the campuses of the University of California, Berkeley are located in Fremont.Fremont is made of five districts: Centerville, Irvington, Mission San Jose, Niles, and Warm Springs. Centerville, which includes all of North and most of Central Fremont, is the center of an Afghan community. Irvington has several restaurants and antique shops. Mission San Jose, one of the oldest Spanish missions in California, has the highest concentration of Asian-Americans in the city. The district of Niles is home to a tight-knight community. Warm Springs, the southernmost district in Fremont, has attracted several high-tech companies and is a commercial center for the Mission San Jose district.In May 2009, the city plans to open the Family Water Play Facility (“Water Park”) to provide residents with entertainment.
