Little Rock is also the home of former President Bill Clinton where he was Governor prior to taking over the Presidency. It is the capital of Arkansas and the most populated city in the state. In the summer months temperatures run from 72-93 degrees while in the winter they are from 31-50 degrees.
The city has a population of about 187,452 in a 116.8 square mile area. The demographics for Little Rock are; 55.1% Caucasian; 40.4% African American; 0.3% Native American; 1.7% Asian; 1.28% Mixed.
The economy for Little Rock has been ranked as the second most diverse economy in the nation. Many major corporations call the city home including; Alltel, Dillard’s Department Stores, Windstream Communications and Acxiom.
Some of the largest counties located in the Little Rock area are Pulaski, Faulkner, Grant, Lonoke, Perry and Saline.
Little Rock is home to a number of cultural areas, some of these are; The Aerospace Educational Center which is an IMAX theater that combines aviation exhibits on display; the Arkansas Arts Center which is the state’s largest art museum featuring works by Van Gogh and Rembrandt; the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra that performs over 30 concerts a year and the Ballet Arkansas which is the only professional ballet company in the state.
